Three former Cal State Stanislaus golfers --
Erick Justesen, James Drew and Keith Huber -- all qualified for the final stage of the PGA Q-School and are just six rounds away from perhaps playing on the Tour.
Justesen, a two-time All-American at Stanislaus, had just completed his collegiate eligibility last spring will join Drew, a two-time Division II All-American in 1996-97, and Huber an All-American in 1990, in La Quinta on Dec. 3-8.
The final stage of the Q-School will be played at the PGA West's Nicklaus Tournament and TPC Stadium Courses. The tournament will be televised on the Golf Channel Dec. 6-8.
Depending on their finishes, these former Warriors could earn a PGA Tour Card and begin playing on the big stage next season. The consolation prize could also be a spot to play on the Nationwide Tour, which is PGA's "Minor-League" tour.
On Saturday, Justesen (Sacramento) finished third with a six-under par in Lantana, Texas and Drew (North Las Vegas) finished 14th at Oak Valley Golf Club in Beaumont. Huber (Fresno) finished tied for 12th the week before in a qualifying tournament in Kingwood, Texas.
Marc Lawless (Aptos), another former Stanislaus great, advanced to the Second Stage of the Q-School but did not qualify for the Finals. He placed tied for 40th with an even par score at the Oak Valley tournament.
