SANTA ROSA — The Cal State Stanislaus men's golf team and the rest of the tournament field managed to complete 18 holes on Monday despite inclement weather.
After one round of play at the Sonoma State Men's Invitational, the Warriors are currently in eighth place with a 298 score on the wet Santa Rosa Country Club course.
Bryan Kiss leads the Warriors with an one-under 71 and is tied for sixth heading into Tuesday's play. Teams will have to play at least another 18 holes to complete the tournament.
"Bryan had a strong finish today. He birdied his last two holes," CSUS head coach John Cook said. "I hope the weather is better for tomorrow."
Kiss shot a 36 in his first nine and was one-under in the second nine. Western Washington's Xavier Dailly carded a five-under 67 for the lead.
WWU has the team lead with a 289, three shots ahead of Grand Canyon. Tournament host Sonoma State, the defending NCAA Division II champion, is one ahead of Cal State Stanislaus at 297.
J.T. Cockerill shot a 75 and three Warriors --
