Coming off strong performances at the California Collegiate Athletic Association Championships at McKinleyville on Saturday, both the men's and women's cross country teams made their debut on the U.S. Track & Field & Cross Country Coaches Associate polls.
Led by an eighth place finish by
Joey Nunes, the men's team, which finished fourth at the CCAA Championships, is ranked No. 9 in the region. The Warriors edged UC San Diego by one point in the conference meet. CCAA champion Chico State is the top ranked team in the West.
The women's team finished fifth at the CCAA Champinships and is No. 10 in this week's poll.
Denali Foldager and
Rubye Foldager both earned All-CCAA honors by finishing in the top 15.
Both teams will compete in the 2009 NCAA West Region Championships on Nov. 7 in San Francisco.
