On Tuesday the Cal State Stanislaus women's soccer team took a brief break from preparing for finals to spend the evening volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Central Valley.
The team traveled down to Fresno for the “Share-A-Night” Holiday Party. At the party Warrior players and coaches served dinner, drinks and deserts to the Ronald McDonald House staff, board members, volunteers, and families that have stayed at the house. They were all gathered to ring in the holidays together.
“It is so refreshing to have young adults realize the importance of giving to their communities,” said RMHC Public Relations Coordinator Hannah Johnson. “The Cal State Stanislaus women's Soccer Team is a prime example of such a group. They went above and beyond the call to duty to support our charity and its mission.”
Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a “home away from home”, a refuge, for families who are trying to cope with physical, emotional and financial burdens of having a seriously ill child. Parents do not have to sleep in hospital waiting rooms or bear the expense and loneliness of motel lodging. At the House they have an extended family – other house guests – who are experiencing some of the same fears and concerns and who are able to offer emotional support and a sympathetic ear.
“Part of our mission as a team is to give back to the community that gives so much to us,” said head women's soccer coach
Gabriel Bolton. “We were really honored to help serve the great people of the Ronald McDonald House in our community. These families, volunteers, staff and board members have been through so much and give so much to others that it was really a privilege to get to support them in this very small way.”
