Just days after he received NSCAA All-Region honors, Cal State Stanislaus men's soccer star
Victor Regalado received another major award. The junior was named to the NSCAA/Performance Suburu All-American first team on Friday, as it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Regalado, forward from College Place, Wash., is the first Warrior to earn the All-American award in soccer. The NSCAA award program is voted on by the soccer coaches who are members of the Association.
"We are excited for Victor and the accolades he has garnered this year! He worked hard and was very opportunistic around the goal all year," CSU Stanislaus head coach Dana Taylor said. "This speaks volume about our program and the direction we are headed in as a team."
Regalado was the California Collegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Offensive Player. He also earned Daktronics All-Region and earlier this week picked up the NSCAA All-Region first team honor, which qualified him on the All-American ballot.
Regalado led the Warriors to a successful season in 2009 as Cal State Stanislaus went 11-6-2 under Taylor. He set new CSUS California Collegiate Athletic Association-era single-season records in goals (13) and points (28).
"As proud as we are, Victor would be the first to say, without the help of his teammates this would not have been possible. With Victor’s return, nine starters returning from this years campaign and host of highly touted recruits to be an exciting 2010 season.
He was the conference's leading goal scorer and led all players in points per game (1.75), goals per game (0.81) and game-winning goals (six). In 13 conference matches, Regalado led the CCAA in points (20), goals (9), points per game (1.54) and goals per game (0.69) during conference games only.
