WALNUT CREEK — Cal State Stanislaus' Kasey Burlingham was named California Collegiate Athletic Association men’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of April 20-26.
Burlingham, a junior from Alta, Calif., finished second in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 16 feet, 6 3/4 inches at UC Berkeley's Brutus Hamilton Invitational. Burlingham was evenly matched with Cal's Ryan Shuler until the next height, where Shuler cleared 17-3/4 on his third attempt for the win.
Burlingham, already an automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championships, is no. 1 in the CCAA by nearly a foot, with a clearance of 16-10 3/4 set earlier this year.
