SACRAMENTO -- Giving some of the Warriors a last chance to qualify for the national championship meet, a few selected student-athletes competed at the Sacramento State Invitational on Saturday.
Kasey Burlingham was one of those Warriors already qualifier for the Championship meet scheduled for later this month in San Angelo, Texas. On Saturday, Burlingham cleared 17-6 1/2 in the men's pole vault to break his own school record and move up to No. 1 in Division II.
Jasimen Bailey was down to her last discus attempt in the discus on the day and with her sixth toss, she set a new school record with a throw of 155 feet, 10 inches. The mark is a provisional qualifier for the NCAAs and it moved her up to No. 7 in the nation among Division II athletes.
Bailey's discus throw was fourth best on the day at the meet and she was the top collegiate finisher. She also placed sixth in the hammer (154-11).
In women's pole vault,
Alycia Wagner had a personal best with 11-9 3/4 clearance.
Rosemary Feikert was seventh with a 12-2 1/2.
A couple of distance runners turned in personal best times in the 1500-meter run with
Dawson Vorderbruegge timing 3:58.00 for fourth place and
Joey Nunes finished seventh in 3:58.63.
