BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- The Warriors are off to their old tricks. The Cal State Stanislaus men's golf team went off to a slow start before turning in the fourth best team score in round two after one day of play at the 38th annual WWU Invitational at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club.

Stanislaus golfers shot a 301 as a group to start the day at their first tournament of the 2009-10 season before rallying with a 286 in round two to sit at eighth place with the third and final round to play on Tuesday.

Teddy Schrier is currently tied for fifth with a three-under par 141 day with a 71-70. He trails three players, including Chico State's Kyle Souza, by three strokes.

British Columbia leads the 14-team field with a 570 total score after 36 holes. The Warriors have a 587 total.

"As usual, like we did last year, we got off to a poor start but shot better in the afternoon," Warriors head coach John Cook said. "Teddy played solid all day and Trevor Blair had a good afternoon. We are working on getting back in tournament mode."

Blair had one of the better one-round scores on the day with a four-under 68 score in the afternoon round after shooting a 78 in round one. Danny Hoff (149), Bryan Kiss (151) and J.T. Cockerill (154) round out the Stanislaus scoring.

Last year, the Warriors played comeback golf for most of the season after falling behind in the first round before rallying in rounds two and three.
