ROHNERT PARK -- Sonoma State limited the Warriors' offense by keeping Katie Busi on the bench as the Seawolves held off Cal State Stanislaus in women's basketball, 61-56, Thursday night.

Stanislaus junior Alishea Kelly led all scorers with 20 points, but Busi was held scoreless and sat with foul trouble for most of the game. The Warriors dropped to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Stephanie Barnes had 19 points to lead Sonoma State as the Seawolves improved to 6-8, 4-5 CCAA.

Busi picked up her fourth foul just four minutes into the second half and was force to sit out. That was when SSU started to build its lead that was as large as 11-points after back-to-back buckets by Roxanne Rentschler. Her layup at 7:51 gave SSU a 46-35 lead.

With Sonoma State leading by 10 at 54-44 with four minutes to go, the Warriors made a run. With Busi back in the game, she started the surge with a three-pointer -- her first field goal of the game -- at 3:39 left.

The Warriors would go on a 7-0 run to cut the Sonoma lead to 54-51 on another Busi jumper. Stanislaus, though, could not get any closer and trailed by three twice more before the loss.

Busi, who had 13 rebounds Thursday night, was been held to eight points for the second straight game. She also scored eight last Saturday at UC San Diego.

Kelly, who continues to put up points for the Warriors, scored in double-digits for the fourth time in five games this season. She is now averaging 17.8 points per game.

Andreanna Marshall chipped in nine points and Christin Gowan had eight points before fouling out late.

The Warriors will use Friday as a travel day to visit Humboldt State on Saturday at Lumberjack Arena in Arcata. Humboldt State lost to Chico State, 73-72, Thursday night for its second straight setback.
