TURLOCK — The good news is that the Warriors are able to hold their opponents down offensively. However, the Cal State Stanislaus men's basketball team has not been able to score enough as it dropped another low scoring affair Saturday night at Warrior Arena.

The Warriors shot a season-low 24.1 percent in losing to the usually high-flying Golden Eagles of Cal State L.A., 51-44, to drop to 8-8 overall and 4-7 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Chad Johnson and Prince Abidoye each had nine points for the Warriors. Jordan Stokes had seven points and Frank Monge pulled nine rebounds. Matt Ibewiro finished with 7 points and 7 rebounds.

Cal State L.A., 11-5 overall and 7-4 in the CCAA, was led by Dwayne Jones and Chris Fields each with 13 points.

Despite a poor shooting night, the Warriors' defense and their frequent trips to the free throw line kept them in the game. Stanislaus was as close as four-points of Cal State L.A. as late as 3:06 to go in the game when Ibewiro tipped in a basket to make it 43-39.

Cal State L.A. would maintain the lead and nailed free throws down the stretch for the road win.

Cal State L.A. shot 50 percent from the field but never led by more than 13 points in the game. The Golden Eagles average better than 65 points per contest entering the weekend.

The Warriors went to foul line often and made 14 of 25 attempts to stay in the game. The Stanislaus defense managed to create 20 L.A. turnovers and out-rebounded the Golden Eagles, 36-27, including 16 offensive rebounds.

Friday night, the Warriors also held their opponent, Cal State Dominguez Hills, to just 56 points in the 56-41 loss.

The Warriors' five-game homestand continues on Friday when they host San Francisco State. Tipoff is at approximately 7:30 p.m. SF State beat conference-leading Cal State San Bernardino Saturday night, 67-61.
