Women's soccer signs nine recruits

TURLOCK — Cal State Stanislaus head women's soccer coach Gabriel Bolton announced today the addition of nine newcomers to the program. All nine will be incoming freshmen. The Warriors added Allison Case, Karenee Demery, Allie Dugan, Marriah Kessler, Emily Relles, Alyssa Robles, Lauren Thornton, Janelle Triplett , Morgan Torres-Unger.

“This is an explosive class that I expect will come in and compete right away for playing time and starting positions on our team,” said Bolton. “Not only are these student-athletes terrific soccer players and students but they will also complement our tremendous team chemistry because of their character as people.”

Allison Case
5-5, Midfielder, Fresno (Clovis West High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Allison is the type of player that makes everyone else around her better. She makes everything look so easy but is an extremely aggressive and hard working player. Allison also has the ability to score goals out of the midfield which is a great weapon to have. She is going to fit right in with the style of soccer we like to play because she has the skill and she has been very well coached."

CLUB: A starting center midfielder for California Odyssey…coached by Odyssey Director of Coaching JJ Wosniak…Helped lead Odyssey to back-to-back US Club Region G championships (2008, 2009)…participated in the US Club National Championships in 2008 and 2009.

HIGH SCHOOL: Broke the single season scoring record at Clovis West High School with 22 goals and counting…four-year varsity starter…All Tri River Athletic Conference First Team in 2009…named to the 2009 Fresno Bee All Valley Team…All Tri Valley Athletic Conference Second Team in 2008 and Honorable Mention in 2007…coached by Jason Berg.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Billy Case and Denise Curry…born January 12, 1992…expected major is Business.

Karenee Demery
5-4, Forward, Merced (Harvest Christian School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Karenee is going to make a tremendous impact on our program. As they say 'speed kills" and Karenee has the speed and skill to be absolutely deadly at the next level. While she will certainly be one of the fastest players on our team and in the CCAA what makes her truly special is her ability to time her runs behind the defense and finish her opportunities. She can play any position on the forward line which will make her extremely difficult to contain."

CLUB: Starting forward for Merced United Freedom…coached by Scott McKee…led Merced United to 2008 US Club Region G Championship. HIGH SCHOOL: Harvest Christian School does not offer athletics.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Cheryl and Latorence Demery…born August 8, 1992…expected major Business.

Allie Dugan
5-4, Forward, San Jose (Leigh High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Allie is a very fast wing forward who plays in a similar system with her De Anza Force club team. She has been very well coached and has the speed and skill to come in and adjust to college soccer right away. She will be an important part of a very fast and explosive group of forwards."

CLUB: Plays forward for back-to-back State Cup Champions De Anza Force (2008, 2009)…coached by Santa Clara Women's Soccer Assistant Coach Curtis McAllister.

HIGH SCHOOL: Starting forward for Leigh High School…coached by Angie Larson…Named All Bay Valley Athletic League First Team in 2009…Also selected as team Most Valuable Player and Junior of the Year in 2009…All BVAL Second Team in 2008.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Judy and Richard Dugan…born January 22, 1992…expected major Child Psychology.

Marriah Kessler
5-7, Goalkeeper, Mission Viejo  (Mission Viejo High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Marriah brings a lot of leadership and technical skill to the goalkeeper position. She is a strong communicator and understands how to manage the defense very well. Marriah is also technically very strong and has been well coached at her position."

CLUB: Starting goalkeeper for the Laguna Hills Eclipse…coached by Carrie Taylor…named team captain in 2008…led team to 2008 Surf Cup Semi-Finals.

HIGH SCHOOL: Starting goalkeeper for Mission Viejo High School…coached by Susie Daher…led the team to the 2009 South Coast League Championship…named All South Coast League Second Team in 2009…selected to the Excalibur All Tournament Team in 2009…guided Mission Viejo to 2009 Excalibur Tournament Championship…Also named All South Coast League First Team in Lacrosse…recipient of Scholar Athlete Award in 2009.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Roger and Cheryl Kessler….born October 12, 1992…expected major Kinesiology.

Emily Relles
5-4, Defender, Saugus (Saugus High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Emily is the complete package. She is a perfect fit at outside defender for our program because we like to get our wing backs into the attack. Emily has the speed to go forward as well as the skill to take players on and cross balls into the box with both feet. As an added bonus Emily plays left back which is one of the most difficult positions to play in our system."

CLUB: Starting left back for LA Rampage/Valley United Stars…coached by Hugh Donald…led team to Surf Cup Semi Finals 2008…National Cup Semi Finalist 2008…Pleasanton Rage Champions 2008…Cal South Coast League Champions 2008…Las Vegas Shootout Semi-Finalist 209…Slammers Classic Champions 2009…member of Cal South ODP…selected to Region IV ODP Team in 2006.

HIGH SCHOOL: Starting left defender for Saugas High School…All Foothill League Second Team in 2008 and 2009…led team to CIF Southern Section Championship in 2009…recipient of Scholar Athlete Award in 2007, 2008, and 2009…named Rookie of the Year in 2007…coached by Natalie Helgeson.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Roy and Gloria Relles…born July 16, 1992…expected major Biology.

Alyssa Robles
5-1, Forward, Fairfield (Vanden High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Alyssa is a fantastic soccer player and is a great fit for our system. She is dynamic on the ball and has the athletic ability to cover the ground. I can see her playing multiple attacking positions on our team because she is equally good on the left and right side of the field."

CLUB: Starting outside midfielder for San Juan Spirits…coached by former professional player Jimmy Frazelle…led team to 2008 Nomads College Showcase Finals.

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter for both Rodriguez High School and Vanden High School…scored 14 goals and posted 11 assists in 2009 for Vanden High School…led Vanden in assists in 2009…named Solano County Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in 2009.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Richard and Vikki Robles…born October 10, 1992…expected major Nursing.

Lauren Thornton

5-9, Defender, Fresno (Clovis West High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Lauren has all the qualities you want in a defender. She is athletic, has good speed, is extremely physical, and can keep possession of the ball. She is going be able to step right in to our back line and make an impact. I just love the way Lauren plays the game, especially her competitiveness. She isn't afraid to get physical and let a forward know that she's in charge."

CLUB: A starting center defender for the California Odyssey… coached by Odyssey Director of Coaching JJ Wosniak…Helped lead Odyssey to back-to-back US Club Region G championships (2008, 2009)…participated in the US Club National Championships in 2008 and 2009.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year starter at Clovis West High School…First Team All-Tri-River Conference in 2009…Fresno Bee All Valley Second Team in 2009…Selected at Clovis West MVP and Best Defensive Player in 2009. Coached by Jason Berg.

Janelle Triplett
5-1, Midfielder, Brentwood (Heritage High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Janelle is one of the most aggressive and intense players I've ever seen. She plays with a lot of heart and fight and will be a tremendous addition to our team. She has fantastic speed which will make her a threat to get in behind defenses."

CLUB: Starting midfielder for East Diablo Impact…coached by Tony Martins and Narinder Singh…team ranked #13 in Northern California…led team to 2009 US Club Region H Finals…2009 Placer United Prestige Cup Champions…2009 Davis Legacy College Showcase Champions.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity starter for Heritage High School…coached by Randy James and Denise Corrado…name Bay Valley Athletic League Second Team in 2009…winner of 2009 Coaches Award.

PERSONAL: Daughter of Thad and Patricia Triplett…born July 18, 1992…expected major Biology.

Morgan Torres-Unger

5-6, Goalkeeper, Ripon (Ripon High School)

Quoting Coach Gabriel Bolton: "Morgan is a fantastic athlete with tremendous explosive ability. She plays with supreme confidence and is absolutely fearless in the goal. Morgan has all of the skills needed to be a terrific college goalkeeper"

HIGH SCHOOL: Starting goalkeeper for Ripon High School…guided team to 2007, 2008, 2009 Trans Valley League Championships…2009 CIF Section Champions…2007 Section finalist…named Trans Valley First Team 2008 and 2009…Trans Valley Second Team 2007…recipient of Ripon High School Leadership Award in 2009.
