Annie Burlingham she vaulting for her dreams.
Burlingham became a step closer to her ultimate goal as she placed first in the collegiate division of women's pole vault with a height of 12 feet, 8 inches for her place at the 2010 NCAA Indoor National Championships.
The new career best height, which is the second best in school history in Indoor Track & Field, now ranks her fourth in the country. Only two-time Outdoor champion Chaunte Mitchell vaulted higher, with a 12-9 1/2 in 2005.
Burlingham is trying to follow her husband's success as Kasey Burlingham, a senior on the track team, won the division II Outdoor title in the men's pole vault last spring.
The 2010 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships is on March 12-13 in Albuquerque, N.M.
In the 800 meter run,
April Montgomery finished second in 2:21.45, exactly four seconds behind winner Alexandra Lawman from Azusa Pacific. Rubye Foldager was third clocking 2:25.25.
Denali Foldager came in fourth in the mile run with a time of 5:20.07.
Rio Schwalback had a busy day with a sixth place finish in the high jump (5-0 1/4), seven in the long jump (16-3) and 11th in the 55-meter hurdles (9.35 seconds).
Jeni Cunha placed seven in the weight throw with a toss of 39-1 1/4.
