OJAI -- The Warriors swept through first round of competition in both singles and doubles play during the earlier part of Thursday's action at the 110th annual Ojai Valley Tennis Tournament.

Then, in the afternoon, a number of Cal State Stanislaus women's tennis athletes continued to roll and have advanced to Friday's play at the prestigious invitational tournament.

Katie Eng, Vanesa Reibstein and Verena Preikschas all won their round one singles match in two sets. Eng beat Katie Thaxton of The Master's College, 6-1, 6-2  while Both Reibstein, the 11th seed, and No. 6 Preikschas beat their opponents, 6-0, 6-1.

Preikschas and Reibstein also won their second match of the day to advance to Friday's round of 16. Preikschas shutout Cal Lutheran's Jordan Leckness, 6-0, 6-0 and Reibstein won her contest 6-2, 6-2 over Redlands' Paige Sumida.

In doubles competition, Arina Polovnikova and Reibstein won their early-afternoon match over a team from The Master's College to advance. Then they played in a thrilling match in the late afternoon against Cal State L.A.'s Adriana Espinosa and Jill Sangria. After splitting the first two sets, Polovnikova and Reibstein held off three match points to win 6-3, 4-7, 12-10, to advance.

Eng and Preikschas, the No. 7 seeded doubles team in the event, defeated Thaxton and Courtney Ringler, 6-1, 6-0 to advance to Friday's quarterfinal round match-up against Cal State L.A.'s Dora Kiss and Linda Majzlikova.
