CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After two weather delays, officials called off action at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Championships at Johnson C. Smith University late Friday night. The event will resume Saturday at 10 a.m.

Cal State Stanislaus women's pole vaulters Annie Burlingham and Alycia Wagner were scheduled to compete in their event Friday evening but thunderstorms and heavy rain caused the meet to be postponed.

Burlingham and Wagner were only two of three athletes to even attempt a jump on Friday at the starting height of 3.63 meters, or 11 feet, 10 3/4 inches. They both missed on their first attempt while Missouri Southern's Ciara Lipsey made it on her first try.

The championship meet at the Irwin Belk Track Complex will resume at 10 a.m. Eastern time with women's pole vault scheduled at 11 a.m.

Reigning national champion Kasey Burlingham will begin defense of his men's pole vault title at 5:45 p.m. local time.
