TURLOCK — Knocking out a Sonoma State team in a tight, competitive match in the semifinals, Jessica Laurie and J'Ana Diamond have advanced to the doubles championship match on Sunday at the inaugural Warrior Tennis Invitational.

Laurie and Diamond edged Sonoma State's Karlee Budge and Mariann Bukich, 9-8 (7-2), in one of the semfinals as the Warriors will take on another Sonoma State team for the tournament title on Sunday. Laurie and Diamond is the tournament's top seeded doubles pair and they will play No. 2 seeded Kaitlyn Haithcock and Jordyn Kearney Sunday at 9 a.m. in the finals.

Bukich and Budge had upset No. 3 seed Gianna Cupo and Rickimae Torres of Dominican on Friday to get into the semifinals. Haithcock and Kearney were victories over No. 4 Jessica Ho and Chelsea Smithback of Holy Names, 8-3, to advance.

Another Stanislaus team will also be in playing in a final round on Sunday in the Doubles consolation bracket as Analyssa Tallas and Jessica Stokes defeated Kelly Zwicker and Mackenzie Flanagan of Dominican in the semifinals on Saturday to move on. Tallas and Stokes will play another Dominican team, Solveig and Chloe Vicari, also at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

In singles play, Torres and Haithcock will square off in the Flight A championship after Torres defeated Diamond, 6-3, 6-3. Stanislaus sophomore Diamond had upset No. 2 seeded Kearney earlier Saturday with a thrilling three-set, 6-3, 7-6 (10-1) win.

Laurie will be in the Flight A consolation finals against Cupo after posting a 6-1, 6-4 win over Vicari on Saturday. The third seeded Laurie is battling back and looks to win the back draw after being upset on Friday by Budge in the first round.

In the Fligth B title match will be Zwicker of Dominican against Sonoma's Bukich while the consolation finals match-up pits Hernandez against Taylor Barajas of Holy Names.
