FRESNO — Analyssa Tallas recorded a brilliant victory over a Divison I opponent as the sophomore advanced in the White Flight Singles play at the Bulldog Classic, hosted by Fresno State.

J'Ana Diamond, who is in the Red Flight Singles competition, also moved on to play in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on the campus of Fresno State. Diamond advanced by default as her opponent Anne Susdorf of Fresno State retired due to injury in the second set with a 1-0 lead.

As for Tallas, she flat out beat her opponent Anna Klavins of Cal Poly, 6-3, 6-4, to advance to her flight's quarterfinal round. Tallas will face Oregon's Kadie Hueffner Saturday at 10:30 a.m. At the top of the same White (C) Flight, Warrior senior Jessica Stokes received a bye in the round of 16 and will take on Regina Suarez of Pacific Saturday morning.

Jessica Laurie, who dropped a 6-3, 6-2 match to Pacific's Frances Dean will play in the B Flight's consolation bracket on Saturday. She is matched-up against Kelsey Frey of Portland State.

Cal State Stanislaus is the only Division II program at this six-team event at Fresno State. Oregon, Pacific, Portland State and Cal Poly are the other teams participating.
